How many times have you heard or read that a project was a success because it was delivered “on time and on budget”? Our guess is plenty. We need to consider, though, whether anything was compromised in order to achieve these measures.
When it comes to managing a project, there are four key levers that can be pulled to change an outcome – time, cost, scope and quality. In many cases, to keep an element on track, you need to make compromises on one or more of the other levers. Time and cost are the most visible levers, which means too often value is compromised by overlooking scope and quality.
This is why when somebody tells you that a project was delivered “on time and on budget” it’s important to delve deeper. Ask the question, what value was compromised in ensuring this was achieved?
At Integra Partnerships, our commitment to you is that our end goal will always be to create value for your organisation.
